I'm a big fan of movies and certain TV shows. I tend to lean towards the shows with complicated plots, scifi or fantasy genres, interesting cinematography, or dark and twisted story lines. I don't really like many of the main-stream movies and shows because I feel that most of those are full of fluff and made for the sheep of society. Here I want to list all of the films, cartoons, anime, and TV shows that I like and find interesting. Unfortunately many of the TV shows that I'll be listing are no longer being shown though a good number of them are in syndication. I think that I have a wide and varied selection here... a little something for everyone, I hope. Anyway, thanks for stopping by to take a look and please e-mail me if you want to talk about anything listed here.
For the most part I always try to get letterboxed versions of movies when possible. Director's cuts also. I want to see a movie as it was intended. The message: "This movie has been formatted to fit your screen" means "This movie's been butchered so mental midgets won't bitch at us and we always give in to the masses" to me. You just miss so much of the view when watching a movie that's had the sides chopped off so that it'll fill a TV screen from top to bottom. With DVD and the newly established digital TV standards finding letterboxed films won't be all that difficult Since DVD allows for multiple version on one disc and digital TV is a wide format like the theatre movie screen. Finally!!! Letterboxed versions (on VHS) of films have become more prevalent in the last few years but there's just so many films that you simply cannot get in this format.
I guess I've done enough bitching in the intro for this page... Now on to the list!
For a list and review of the movies I've seen lately be sure to check out my Recently Viewed Movies Page. It's groovy!
|Movie/Show:||Information and/or Favorite Quote:|
|Ferris Bueller's Day Off||This movies has long been at the top of my most enjoyed movies. FBDO
epitomizes what I think is important about life... living it.
Quote: "He's not going to leave my cheese out in the wind!" - Ed Rooney
|Happy Gilmore *||I just recently added this movie to my collection. It's crass,
strange, and bizarre. Everything that I like in a movie.
Quote: "The price is wrong, bitch!" - Happy
|Army of Darkness *||This is the third installment in the Evil Dead series. Some would
consider this a horror movie but I'd say that they're nuts! This is a hillarious
Quote: "Come get some!" - Ash
|UHF *||Weird Al Yankovic at his best. This low budget movie tries to spoof
just about every popular movie ever created.
Quote: "Today we're teaching poodles to fly"
|Men In Black *||I wanted so much to see this one in the theatres but never got the
chance. I knew it was one that I'd love. Got to see it for the first time wit
a couple of friends. Nearly wanted to kill one of 'em fo talking during it (sorry
Dave.) MiB is a great flick in my opinion. Good characters, actors, special
effects, story line, and humor.
Quote: "And hire yourself an interior decorator... 'cause damn." (Wil Smith after looking around at Edgar's décor) - J
|The Fifth Element *||The first time that I saw this title I didn't think much of it. In
fact... I fell asleep. The reason was that I was really shagged out so I wasn't able
to really pay attention to what was going on. This is an excellent scifi
movie. One of Bruce Willis' better roles. And where else can you get to see a
bad guy that's a effeminate, redneck, nazi?
Quote: "I'll just keep this for you" (Willis taking robber's gun and adding it to his own collection)
|Star Wars (all three) *||I never did get to see all of these when they were originally released in
theatres. Or did I? It's been so long ago. Truely some of the best scifi
Quote: "These are not the droids you're looking for." - Obiwan
|The Crow *||The movie varies a good deal from the comic/graphic novel but it's still a
very good story. I've seen this one in the theatre several times as well as on video
tape. Excellent choice of actors and an incredible sound track.
Quote: "Don't you ever fuckin' die?" - Funboy
|Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas *||This is one of the most accurate movie conversions of a book that I've
ever seen. Fear and Loathing is one of my all time fave books so I was ecstatic when
it was released as a movie. Unfortunately it never came to a theatre near me!
And the wait for it to come to video about killed me. Jonny Depp shows his ability
to become the character he portrays to the fullest extent in this movie. A must see
for any fan of Hunter S. Thompson.

TV (Live Action)
|The X-Files||After several seasons this hit is still going. The X-Files provides
consistant and constant strong character developement, interwoven plots, and excellant
|Millenium||Another great show by Chris Carter (the creator of The X-Files) in the same genre as The X-Files.|
|Buffy the Vampire Slayer||I had no hopes for this show. I thought that it was going to be silly. I was soooo wrong. This show is so much better than the movie that the series is based on. Sarah Michelle Gellar is phenominal as Buffy. I'm very sorry that I never got to see the first couple of|
|Strange Luck||An interesting and inspired series in the genre of "weird." Unfortunately this series was canceled by FOX. Strange Luck was about a guy that had the strangest of luck. Another intelligent series that's gone.|
|Twin Peaks||Created by David Lynch, this series was about as surreal as TV ever got. Everything from the "Log Lady" to midgets that talk backwards in red rooms... Bizarre is an understatement.|
|Star Trek (all versions)||I loved the original series. Then came Star Trek: The Next Generation and I was completely wowed. STTNG far surpassed the original series in every way other than campiness. Star Trek: Deep Space 9 came next and went in a different direction than STTNG as it was based on a space station rather than a ship. Star Trek: Voyager came next and follows more in the lines of STTNG. I enjoy all of the series and I just wish that they were shown more often.|
|Space: Above and Beyond||I though that this series would really last. Excellent characters fight out an interstellar war against a faceless race bent on the destruction of man kind and no one knows why. Another excellent series gone to make way for the wonders of shows like Beverly Hills 902-what-the-fuck-ever...|
|Highlander: The Series||This series went from poor acting and predictable story lines to something very special. Employing characters that you can really care about and have empathy for, this series is sadly missed now that it's over.|
|Kindred: The Embraced||This series was based on the role playing game Vampire: The Masquerade. I loved this series. Kindred showed in the same season as Strange Luck and like SL it was tossed in the dumpster. Unfortunate, really.|
|Monty Python's Flying Circus||Those wacky Limeys...
Quote: "Your name's not Bruce?"
|The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy||A BBC classic based on the Douglas Adams' books. Employing the typically under budgetted style of the BBC this twisted story really captured the imagination in a humorous way.|
|Seinfeld||Lunatic Jew... what else can be said? Lemme see... Cosmo's the sanest of the bunch. Elaine should fall off a building. George should live life out as a mentally challenged monkey grinder. Jerry needs the addition of a soul. It's fun to watch their trials and tribulations.|
|AMP||This series was cool, when it first started. Of course like all things that MTV does, they fucked it up. AMP started out as a show for good techno and dance music. Now it's Jock Jams for the mental midget.|
|Bill Nye The Science Guy||Bill! Bill! Bill! Bill! Bill! It's Bill Nye the Science Guy! It's Mr. Wizard, but cooler.|
Most people consider animated shows to be only for children. These people could
not be farther from the mark. Most cartoons may seem to be for kids but if you watch
them you'll find that they're rarely just for kids. Granted there are exceptions
that are nothing more than insipid drivel directed at kids to sell toys but these listed
below are excellent examples of cartoons for adults.
|South Park||This is THE prime example of a cartoon that's NOT for children.
South Park has caused an uproar in the community that believes that they should determine
what we all watch, read, think, believe, and do with our bodies. South Park is not
market towards children and comes on after 10 but there are still people that believe it's
for kids and that it should be taken off of the air. South Park is sick, twisted,
demented, and disturbing in so many wonderful ways... I love it.
Quote: "Screw you guys, I'm goin' home." - Cartman
|MiB:The Animated Series||Based on the movie Men In Black this animated series is an excellent
extention of the movie. Great characters, animation, and smart stories.
Quote: "Eggs! I like 'em!" - K
|Batman||NOT the campy TV Batman series of the past. This is the gritty, dark Batman of the 90's. Based on the Dark Knight comics this animated series is well done with an excellent, contrasting style of animation and an emphasis on story and character developement.|
|Superman||This series is done in the same style as Batman but not quite as dark in flavor. I really never cared for Superman in the past but this animated series is just as credible as the Batman series in character and story developement. Superman is no longer the totally invincible super heroe... he's more human than ever.|
|The Tick||Based on the comic series of the same name on the Top Cow label. The Tick
is nigh invulnerable and smart as a slug.
Quote: "Spooooooon!" - The Tick
|Animaniacs||We're the Animaniacs and we're looney to the max! This excellent
cartoon has many jokes that only adults would get. I highly recommend this cartoon.
Quote: "Helloooooooo Nurse!" - The Warner Bros.
|Rocko's Modern Life||The day to day life of an Australian wallaby in todays world. A lot
of fun with a demented twist.
Quote: "Spunkyyyyyyyyyyyyy!" - Rocko
|Eek the cat||Eek the cat is actually more than just the Eek carttons. There's also The Terrible Thunder Lizards and Clutter and a couple others. Eek's a lot of fun.|
|Spy Dogs||This is a new cartoon. I've only gotten to see a couple of episodes but what I've seen, I like. Spy Dogs is all about the secret society of dogs and how they protect us all from our own human stupidity.|
|Pinky and The Brain||It's Pinky and the Brain, It's Pinky and the Brain, one is a genius, the
other's insane... Pinky and the Brain was spawned from Animaniacs. They got
their own show!
Quote: "I think so Brain but if we didn't have ears we'd look like weasles!" - Pinky
|X-Men||Excellent story lines, great art, great voice acting, very strong
character developement. Too bad that they never really completed the series.
Quote: "Raaaahrrr" - Wolverine
|Ren And Stimpy||The original shock cartoon. Everything a good cartoon should be...
disturbing, surreal, disgusting... the list goes on and on...
Quote: "Wear not the hat of unleavened bread for it is diseased" - Stimpy
Quote: "There's no dog but there's a babooooon..." - Stimpy
|The Simpsons||The first major, prime time animated series. Everyone knows about
The Simpsons. Truely disturbing stuff for the most part.
Quote: "We're putting that bitch on ice." - Apu
Quote: "Put that down or I'll blow you head off." - Apu
Quote: "Can't sleep, clown'll eat me!" - Bart
|Space Ghost (Coast To Coast and Cartoon Planet)||Campy but funny as can be.
Quote: SG: "Where's Raymond?" ZORAK: "Oh... I devoured him."
|Old Bugs Bunny Cartoons||Not these edited to the point of being totally non-violent pieces of crap that's shown today! I want the real, unedited versions!|
Japanese animation has really become very popular in the US in the past few years. I've been a fan since Speed Racer. As with anything, not all anime is good. Now when I see Speed Racer on TV I think that it's pretty crappy and campy. I was a kid though and I loved it at the time.
Most of the anime that I own is spectacular. That's what draws me to
anime... the unbelievable images, the attention to detail, the power of the
artform. Also, most of the anime that I own is definitely not for kids. It's
for adults and that's all there is to it. Anime is another example of animation for
|Akira *||I think that many people are truely introduced to anime via this movie. Just about everyone that likes anime got their start on Akira. Truely stunning although somewhat confusing to most first time viewers. A lot of depth.|
|Record of Lodoss War *||This incredibly well animated fantasy adventure is based on a game of D&D played by friends then animated. A six tape collection.|
|Street Fighter V *||I've only got the first tape of, I believe, ten total tapes for the series. I'd like to get all of them if possible but I don't see that as being possible for some time. The tape that I have is the first three episodes of the series. Excellent animation, story line, and perspective of the much talked about Street Fighter video game characters.|
|Street Fighter: The Animated Movie *||Full length feature movie about the Street Fighter characters. Two versions available in the US are Non-Rated and PG-13. Get the Non-Rated version. It's a little longer (2min) and changes a little the impact of the movie.|
|Ghost in the Shell *||Excellent story about cop cyborgs. Incredible imagery. Highly recommended by most fans of anime. I'd really like to the directors cut.|
|Warriors of the Wind *||I'm assuming that this one is called Nausicaa A. Unfortunately my copy is pretty worn. Story about a prophesied little girl in a very strange word made by chemical wastes... Huge (and I mean immense) bugs.|
|Secret of Arislan *||Another fantasy adventure anime. Unfortunately I only have the first tape.|
|Ninja Scroll *||This extremely violent, bloody anime is probably the most adult of the bunch. Definitely not for the kiddies unless they like to see a demon rape a ninja girl.|
|RoboTech *||Another six tape collection. I got this from a friend. It's the original story of Robotech as shown on American TV.|
* - Denotes that I own this on video tape or DVD.
Hell yes! I support free speech on the 'net! Maybe you should too.
