Maltera Uharte honek eta beste bi txikiagok errepublika independetea osatzen dute Mediterranioan. 360.000 biztanletarik, 320.000 mintzo dira malteraz. Arabieran jatorria duen hizkuntza semitikoa, alfabeto latinoz idazten da (zeinu diakritikoak ez ditugu hemen adierazi). Italian ere malterazko 28.000 hiztun daude. Ingelesek kolonizatu zuten Malta XX. mendera arte, eta ingelesa ere hizkuntza ofiziala da.

Maltese In Malta 360,000 people live, 320,000 of them speakers of Maltese, the native language. English is also official due to former British colonization. There are also 28,000 speakers of Maltese in Italy. Maltese is descended from Maghrebi Arabic but has borrowed heavily from Italian; it is a separately developed form with different syntax and phonology. Written in the latin script with several diacritics (absent in our short list).
