KYOSHO MODIFICATIONS

Flying only 30 size machines is an option that I and my good close friend Carlito have made. I have had 02 60 size machines before: one Kyosho Concept 60 SR Championship Version and one 1004 Graphite X-Cell, both of them were sold and now I only fly Kyosho 30 size Helicopters.

Since I chose these smaller birds I've been trying to get the most out of them. Here you will see some modifications that I've made to my Concept 30 SR-X in order to turn it into a 3D Flyier.

This Concept 30 SR-XA1 "Alex 1" was my first attempt to build a 3D HOTDOG machine. Despite the powerful engine, Irvine F1 Modified, this babe crashed soon after its first flights. The engine stalled in the air causing the model to fall. It's true that I could never get this engine to run properly. It has poor idle RPM, Sensitive Needle Valve Adjustment. Maybe I didn't brake in the engine right. If anyone has any comments about this engine I'll gladed appreciate.

This Concept 30 SR-XA2 "Alex 2" is the second attempt I've made, now together with great colaboration of my friend Carlito. Guess what, It worked wonders! It is performing great 3D manoeuvres, mutiple rolls and flips. The Thunder Tiger engine is working great, delivering power where it is needed. The exhaust manifold has been modified to allow the tuned pipe to be positioned almost parallel to the surface. The manifold also had its entry openning enlarged and polished to fit the opening exhaust of the Thunder Tiger engine better. The NHP fins have been modified to reduce the resistance of the air during flips and rolls.

Radio Settings

Before you start, make sure that your Helicopter pitch is travelling from -9° to +11°. Also make sure that all linkages are symmetrical and making 90° with the servo arm.
