A little bit about me...

I am a 27 year old graduate student at Florida State. I am studying Latin American History.

I plan to teach college, so its good that my degrees don't qualify me for a "real job" Seriously, I was forced to spend just enough time in the real world while I was saving money for college that I was able to figure out that it really, really is not for me. Sometimes, I thought that if I were to hear one more conversation about golf or landscaping, I might explode. I believe that learning is the essential act of being human. Few subjects are as woefully understudied or misunderstood by most people as history, particularly the history of non-European peoples. I hope to be a good teacher and am taking every opportunity that I can find to learn more about teaching.

My focus area is the modern Caribbean. I am currently working on my thesis. It is about the role of middle class intellectuals as populist politicians in the Caribbean.
