 LAND RECORDS of William BARKER and Mary BARKER (original spelling used):

 "This indenture made and entered into this twenty eighth day of April eighteen hundred and forty two between William Barker and Mary his wife, Elias Barker and Elizabeth his wife and John Barker and Polly his wife, Albert Robinett and Lucinda his wife, Nancy Barker and Margaret Barker of the one part and Joseph Smith of the other part all of the county  of Lafayette and state of Missouri.  Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and twenty dollars to them in had paid to the said William Barker by the said Joseph Smith the receipt whereof is by the said William Barker acknowledged and from the payment whereof the said Joseph Smith his heirs or assigns is by thse presents  forevere  exhonorated.  They the said William Barker and Mary  his wife, Elias Barker and  Elizabeth his wife, John Barker and Polly  his sife, Albert Roninett and Lucinda his wife, Nancy Barker and Margaret Barker have granted bargained and sold and by those presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Joseph Smith his heirs or assigns all their right to and title and interest in the following tract or parsel of land lying and being in the county of Lafayette and state of Missouri to wit.   The Northeast quarter of the Southwest quarter of Section #E of Township  49 in Range no. Twenty seven containing forty acres acording to the United States Survey together with all and singular the privileges and interest thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining.  To have and to hold to the said Joseph Smith his heirs and assigns forever.  And the said William Barker and Mary his wife, Elias Barker & Elizabeth his wife, John Barker and Polly his wife, Albert Robinnette  and Lucinda his wife, Nancy Barker, Margaret Barker do further convenant to and with the said Joseph Smith his heirs and assigns that the premises herein mentioned and granted  sold and conveyed to the said Joseph Smith together with the appurtenances they the said William Barker and Polly his wife, Elias and Elizabeth his wife, John Barker and Polly his wife, Albert Robinett and Lucinda his wife, Nancy Barker, Margaret Barker will to the said Joseph Smith his heirs and assigns well and forever defend and warreant to all persons whomsoever claims the same.

18 October 1841
 "Know all men by these present that we William Barker and Mary Barker wife of the said William Elias Barker and Elizabeth Barker wife of the said Elias, John Barker and Polly Barker wife of the said Joh, Albert Robinett and Lucinda Robinett formerly Lucinda Barker wife of the said Albert, Nancy Barker and Peggy Barker all of the county of Lafayette and statge of Missiouri, have this day for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and fifty Dollars to us in hand and paid by Hosea Ashcroft of the county and state above named, granted bargained and sold, and do by those present grant bargain and sell to the said Hosea Ashcroft and at his heirs all the right, title, claim, and intrest which we have in and to the following described land lying and being in the county of Lafayette and state of Missouri, and known as follows, the quantity of thirty five acres to be taken off of the southern half of th west half of the south west quarter of Section No. eight in Township forty nine Morth of the base line of Range twenty seven.   West of the fifth principal meridian.  To have and to hold the land together with the privileges and appurtenances thereunto belong to the said Hosea Ashcroft his heirs and assigns forever.  And we do hereby convenant for ourselves our heirs executors and administrators, to and with the said Ashcroft his heirs executors and administrators to warrant and forever defends the premises above named form the claim or claim of any and all persons whatsoever, in testimony, whereof we have hereunto let our hands and seals this Eighteenth day of October AD 1841."
