EXTRACT
Thomas Addington, yeoman to be buried in the parish church of Potterspury near to the place where my first wife was buried
to the mother church of Peterborough 4d
to Alice my wife, a bedstead, featherbed, boulster, coverlet, blanket, sheets etc
to my grandchildren, viz., Richard Scrivener, Thomas Scrivener and Edward Scrivener ten pounds to be equally divided between them when 18 years, and a trunk, a chest & everything in them divided equally
to grandchild Jane Scrivener one silver trencher salt & one silver spoon when 18 years or day of marriage
to grandchild Joyce Scrivener a pair of "hollen sheets" etc., when 18 years or day of marriage
to eighteen of the poor of Potterspury 4d apiece yearly to be paid on St Thomas Day forever in the church of Potterspury to be distributed by my son in law Richard Scrivener, his heirs or assigns, for this Richard Scrivener to be paid three pounds. If he refuse to pay the poor people the said sum of three pounds then the sum to go to "two of the sufficient men in Potterspury as shall be thought fit by the discretion of the whole inhabitants to be employed for the best use of the poor people"
