WILL OF RICHARD STUKELY OF PETERBOROUGH 1549
In the name of God amen the 26th day of January in the year of our Lord God 1549, I Richard Stukley of the City of Peterborough of perfect mind & remembrance all former wills set apart, do make this my last will & testament in manner & form following
First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God, our Lady Saint Mary & all the Holy Company of Heaven and my body to be buried with the gallery of the Cathedral Church of Peterborough if it may be or elsewhere as my friends will appoint
Item I bequeath to the church of Saint John Baptist 12d
Item I give & bequeath to the great bell 4d & for four men to ring it for my soul "glace" [grace?] 8d
Item I bequeath to John Hawking my father in law my "freese" gown & Agnes Hawking my mother 20d
Item I bequeath to Grace Hawking my sister 20s
Item I bequeath to every one of my brethren & sisters to have 12d that is to say John Hawking, William Hawking,
Alyce Tymson & Elizabeth Sansmore?*Item I bequeath to John Tymson my brother my "freese" jacket
Item I bequeath to John Sawsemor?* my violet jacket
Item I bequeath to Margaret my servant 20s
Item I bequeath to Richard Anderson my signet of silver, my "clocke" [cloak?] and my "right & wryttings" that belongeth to me concerning an Inn called the Bell and? the Hoop lying & being in the parish of Our Lady at Stroude with the appurtenances & £10 of money to "sewe" [sue] it forth in my name for his own behoof which money he hath delivered with my own hand & also my writing thereto belonging
The residue of my goods not given nor bequeathed I do give & bequeath to "
Ketteryn" my wife whom I make my soul executrix, she to receive my debts & for to pay my debts & to perform this my last will & testament and to do for my soul according to her discretion when she shall see need is.And here I nominate & make Richard Dawson of "
Estefelde" the supervisor of this my will and testament and he to have for his pains 3s 4dIn witness whereof
