WILL OF JOHN HOWES OF OUNDLE 1550

In the name of God amen, the 16th day of March in the year of our Lord God a thousand five hundred & fifty and in the fifth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord Edward the Sixth by the grace of God of England, France and Ireland, King Defender of the Faith & in earth of the Church of England and Ireland, the Supreme Head, I John Howes of Ashton in the parish of Oundle within the Diocese of Peterborough make my testament and last will in form following

First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God, my body to [be] buried in the church yard of Oundle aforesaid

Item I to the mother church of Peterborough 2d

Item I will that William Milner my son in law shall have the Copy of my house with all the profits there belonging after the custom of the Manor

Item I do give unto Robert Howes £4 in money or money worth to be delivered to the said Robert when he shall come to the age of 21 years

Item to the same Robert a coffer and one "grette arke" [great ark] next unto the best

Item I give unto Agnes my daughter wife of Robert Byrde 10s to be paid within the space of two years next after my departing

The residue of of my goods moveable and unmoveable I give unto the said William Milner whom I do make my Executor, he to pay my debts & to perform this my last will in all conditions

And I will that Robert Rysley & John Bysby be supervisors of the same will given the day and year above written

These being witness John Bysby, Richard Henson & Philippe Henson
