WILL OF WILLIAM LANGLEY OF CHACOMBE 1550
In the name of God amen, upon the 14th day of the month of January in the year of our Lord God a thousand "fyf fyve hundrethe l" [1550] I William Langley of the parish of "Chacum" do make my testament & last will as hereafter followeth
First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God, my body to be buried in the church yard of Chacombe
Item I give to Agnes my daughter a coffer, a pair of sheets, one quarter of barley one land of wheat one cart load of wood.
Item to William Langley my best cart, one sheep.
To Richard Sabyn one sheep.
Item to Roger Key one sheep.
Item to John Sabyn? 20s, one heifer of three years old, a horse colt of one year old, one quarter of barley
Item to Alys Galoway 10s, a "heckford" of one year old
Item to William Ladbroke 10s & one sheep
Item to Elizabeth Ladbroke 10s & one sheep; if it please God that the said William & Elizabeth do live to the age of 16 years then the[y] shall receive their legacy
Item to Agnes Hewes one sheep
Item to every of my godchildren 2d
Item to every poor cottager in Chacombe 2d
Item to Richard Key one hive of bees & the residue of my bees I will that the[y] shall be parted among my three children "be" equal portions
Item to Margaret my daughter one bed with all the best apparel that belongeth to one bed, a coffer, a cupboard & the best pot, the best pan, one horse, three quarters of barley, one quarter of "mastelyne" & the half of all my other goods which are not bequeathed and the other half of my goods which is not bequeathed I give to John my son whom I make my sole executor & I ordain Richard Key & Nycholas Hutt to be overseers & do give to them 20d apiece to see that this my testament and last will be performed; As witnesseth
