In the name of God amen
, I Richard Warner of Chacom in the county of Northampton, husbandman, weak in body but of perfect memory, thanks be to God for the same, I do here make my last will and testament in manner and form as followeth;Firstly I bequeath my soul unto Almighty God which gave it me through Jesus Christ my Saviour and my body to be decently buried in the churchyard of Chacom
Item I give and bequeath unto Hester my loving wife four pounds a year and her diet sufficient, and the chamber over the hall with bed and bedding therein, with wood convenient to make her a fire at the cost and charge of my son Richard Warner during her natural life so long as she shall keep her widow and no longer, and further my will is that if Hester my wife do ....at my years end with the four pounds a year and her diet as aforesaid, that then I do give unto Hester my wife twenty marks a year during her natural life with the same chamber room and bedding and fire as aforesaid, but in case Hester my wife do marry, that then I do give unto her the aforesaid twenty marks and go away with her husband.
I do bequeath unto my brother Michael Warner twenty shillings to be paid by my Executor
I give unto Rebecca Warner the elder twenty shillings five pounds to be paid by my executor
And I do give unto Rebecca Warner the younger five pounds to be paid by my Executor the sixth day of June which shall be in the year of our Lord God one thousand six hundred fifty four.
And further I give unto Edward Warner ten shillings
And I give unto Elizabeth Sabin one barren sheep
And all the rest of my goods and chattels moveable and unmoveable I do give and bequeath unto my son Richard Warner whom I do make my sole Executor of this my last will and testament the day and year first above written. Richard Warner alias Watts his mark
Sealed in the presence of us John Haughton, William Langley, Job Mander.
I give unto Rebecca Warner, her three children, Richard, John and Henry, three pounds six shillings, eight pence apiece to be I paid unto them when they shall be set to apprenticeship
I give unto Joyce Tomes twenty shillings. I do give unto each one of my godchildren three shillings four pence apiece, except Richard Plesto and his wife.
This will was proved the fifteenth day of February one thousand six hundred fifty eight before the Judges for Probate of Wills and Granting of Administrations lawfully authorized, by the oath of Richard Warner, the son sole Executor, to whom Administration was granted he being first duly sworn truly to Administer.
