WILL OF ELIZABETH KINGSTON OF SHUTLANGER 1688

In the name of God amen, I Elizabeth Kingston of Shutlanger in the parish of Stoke Bruerne in the county of Northampton, widow, being in good health of body & of sound & perfect mind & memory, praise be therefore given to Almighty God for the same, do make & ordain this my last will and testament in manner & form following; (that is to say),

First & principally, I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God, hoping through the merits death & passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have full & free pardon & forgiveness of all my sins & to inherit eternal life,

And my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried in the parish church or churchyard of Stoke Bruerne aforesaid at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named,

And as to for [sic] touching & concerning of all that personal estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me, I give & dispose thereof as followeth;

First I will that my debts & funeral charges shall be paid & discharged.

Item I give & bequeath unto my son Nicholas Kingston one cyprus chest

Item I give & bequeath unto each of my sons Joseph Kingston & Mark Kingston one pewter dish apiece which said goods so given & bequeathed by me as aforesaid to my said sons Nicholas Kingston, Joseph Kingston & Mark Kingston I will & require that the same shall be delivered unto them within one year next after my decease

Item I give & bequeath unto my loving son William Kingston all the rest & residue of my personal estate, goods, debts owing to me & chattles whatsoever, whom I make full & sole Executor of this my last will & testament

And I do hereby revoke, disannul & make void all former wills & testaments by me heretofore made, and I do hereby declare that which is contained in this one sheet of paper to be my last will & testament.

In witness whereof I the said Elizabeth Kingston, to this my last will & testament have set my hand & seal the twentieth day of October in the five & thirty year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord Charles the Second by the grace of God of England, France & Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith etc.,
