the year of our Lord 1516, the 15th day of August I John Watts, gent., of whole mind and good remembrance make my testament in this manner;First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God, our Lady Saint Mary and to all the saints in Heaven, my body to be buried within the chancel of our Lady of "

Item I bequeath to Elizabeth my wife this farm that I here dwell in to have it for term of her life and after her decease I will and bequeath it to Thomas my son and if the said Thomas die before he come to the age of 21 years then I will that my daughter Kateryn have my said farm and if my daughter Kateryn die before she come to the age of 16 years then I will that my daughter Anne have my said farm
Item I bequeath to my daughter Kateryn 40 marks.

Item I bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth 50 marks
Item I will that my brother William Saunders take the profits of all my lands & tenements & therewith to find my son Edward to sufficient learning and when he cometh to convenient age I will that with the profits thereof my said son be "founde" to Court till he be of age of 21 years
Item I will that my Lady Boteler "maieres" [mayoress?] of London have my daughter Elizabeth Watts with the keeping of her stock of 50 marks in her goods, bringing up as my great trust is in her
And if the said Elizabeth die before the said 50 marks be at her own use then I will that my son Edward have the said 50 marks. Furthermore and if my son Edward die before he come of the age of 21 years then I will that my daughter Elizabeth have the foresaid 20 pounds
Item I suppose that my beasts be worth 100 marks which I will they shall go to the payment of my debts.
Item for my sheep I esteem to be worth 200 pounds which shall go to the payment of my debts
Item and as for all my plate I will that my wife shall have it.
Item all my other goods that is to say all manner corns & "catalls" I remit to my wife wholly.
Item I bequeath to my brother William Saunders all my books concerning the law
I bequeath to a priest to sing for my soul 2 years £10 next following after my decease
Item I bequeath to poor folks at my burial and my months mind £10
Item I bequeath to Sir John Gibson my Chaplain the next "Avoydance" of the benefice of Blakesly. Item I will that my brother Oliver have my violet gown
