RICHARD CLARKE OF CRICK 1599

In the name of God amen, the five and twentieth day of January in the year of our Lord God one thousand five hundred ninety and nine, I Richard Clarke of Creeke in the county of Northampton, husbandman, sick in body but of perfect remembrance, praised be God make this my last will and testament in manner and form following;

First I give and bequeath my soul to Almighty God and my body to be buried in decent burial

Also I do give unto my wife Joan Clarke ten pounds and her coffer and all things contained therein and yearly during her natural life 23s 4d to be paid at the Feast of the Annunciation of our Lady St. Mary and at the Feast of Saint Michael the Archangel by equal portions

Also I do give unto my son Thomas Clarke one cottage with a backside and a close adjoining to Watts his land with all the commodities thereto belonging, to him and his heirs male for ever, paying yearly one chief rent of 5s issuing out of the said cottage and close provided always that if my son Thomas Clarke have no heir male then the land shall return to my son William Clarke paying unto his daughter or daughters if he have any, £5 Provided also that I give unto my son William Clarke three of my best trees now growing in the said close

Also I do give unto Richard Clarke and John Clarke sons to my son William Clarke, either of them, an ewe sheep

Also I do give unto Richard and John Clarke sons to my son William Clarke, either of them, an ewe sheep.

Also I do give unto my son Edward Clarke £3.6.4.

All the rest of my land and goods, moveable & unmoveable I do give and bequeath unto my son William Clarke whom I make my sole Executor unto this my last will and testament
