WILL OF JANE WATTS OF AYNHO 1647

In the Name of God Amen June 27th in the 20th year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord Charles by the Grace, King of England, Scotland France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith etc.,

I Jane Watts the late wife of Benjamin Watts of Aynho in the County of Northampton widow, being in good and perfect remembrance thanks be to God do make and ordain this my last will and testament in mannner and form following,

First I will and bequeath my soul to Almighty God my maker and Creator and my body to be buried in the Churchyard of Aynho.

Item I give and bequeath unto Ann Watts, Lidia Watts and Sara Watts my three daughters, the sum of twenty pounds of lawful money of England, equally to be divided between them.

And if it fortune that either of them do depart this life and die before they be married or at the age of one and twenty that then her portion to remain to the residue of them surviving to be equally divided between them.

Item my will is that if my sister Elizabeth Morton do live with my daughter and do her endeavour towards the breeding of them up I am content her shall make use of their portions towards their maintenance, but if it fortune she depart this life and die or marry or forsake them she is to give them use for their money being twenty pounds according to the statute till the time that they are to receive it

Item all my goods I bequeath, my debts and burial being discharged, if the debts do not amount to more than the goods, unto Elizabeth Morton my sister whom I do make and appoint my whole Executor of this my last will and testament.

And I make my overseers William Barton the Elder and Thomas Southam of this my last will requesting them to be a guide and assistant unto my sister whom I appoint my whole trust unto.
