An editorial staff of a conspiracy-orientated magazine of the same name as their group, The Lone Gunmen was named after the alleged second assasin in the Kennedy assasination.
They have contacts and inside knowledge in a diversity of fields, and function as a kind of alternative think tank for Agent Mulder.
Byers is neatly bearded, well dressed, and a very precise information systems expert.
Frohike has a decided penchant for Agent Dana Scully and serves as the photographic and special operations leader of the group.
Langly is the tall, blond and spectacled member of the group, specialising in communications.
There was a fourth member; Kenneth Soona aka The Thinker, a computer hacker who penetrated the Defense Department computer and downloaded sensitive information about government involvement with aliens. He was murdered 'execution-style' for this.
While the group is earnest and eccentric to the point of mania, it has provided Mulder and Scully with equal amounts of paranoid theory and objective fact.
