Rags to Riches This acting genius was spotted by Francis Lai in 1997 when he first acted in a low-budget show in Singapore, Francis Lai's home country. Perhaps due to the similarity of the film (a documentary on the mating of wolves) to Francis's memorable 'Turtle' show (refer to Francis's profile), or perhaps he can sense the potential of this budding actor who would one day be another commanding figure in the world of entertainment, Francis Lai decide to bring him to Hollywood and train him under his wing. True to his 'old and wise' eyes. Alan indeed became an overnight success in the 1998 Movie of the Year, Dances With The Wolves, and clinches the year's Academy Awards Best Supporting Actor. Following this success, he proceed on with several big budget movies such as 'Prawn' and 'Marital Kombat'. All but one of these movies were box-office hits. 'Prawn' flopped not because of the script nor cast but because of another movie of a similar name at that time, 'Spawn'. One big career move in recent years involved Alan crossing over from the Western Hollywood to the eastern Hollywood where he made it big with the movie, 'The Storm Rapists'.
