Why Social Naturism/Nudism?
Having been a social naturist now for most of my life, I can attest to the
stress relief, relaxation, and positive body image (I'm still working on this one) afforded by this lifestyle. As a child, (before dirt), I received many whippings for coming home from playing without any clothes. Having grown up in Texas, I saw no need for the hot clothes. My mother would send me out to find them nearly every day in the summer. She was very puritan in her ideas.
Even though being a Naturist is different for each individual, Nudism is not about religion, nor about sex, but rather a way of living. It is about body acceptance. True Naturist are not "swingers", but people from all walks of life. They are just like you or me, and may be your doctor, nurse, Minister, or next door neighbor. We have met many clergy at nudist resorts.
I did not realize how uncomfortable clothes were until I became a nudist. To swim naked is the only way to go! I have heard it said that upon entering a Nudist or Naturist location, you will experience a new-found freedom and your daily stress will fade away! You will find yourself among the friendliest and most understanding people in the world. You are respected and treated for who you are and not for what you are wearing, or for what you are perceived to have in material goods. You literally have nothing to hide! It may be a little hard to remove your clothes the first time, but soon you realize no one cares that your body is not perfect or that you have physical handicaps. No one gawks at you and very soon you will be making new friends. There are a lot of places on the Internet to find information about social Naturism. You can find some good references on my Links Page.
6-18-99-My wife and I just returned from Shangrila II Resort in Arizona. We would very highly recommend this fine resort to anyone going West this year. The people are very friendly and the location is beautiful. Loved watching all the birds and rabbits! We will return there! In fact we plan to be there over Thanksgiving 99. If you see a short "Roundman" say howdy! See Shangrila II's web site for information
November 29, 1999: We are back from four wonderful days at
Shangrila II Resort in Arizona. Thursday afternoon we had a Thanksgiving Pot Luck Turkey dinner that was out of this world. Our special thanks to the owners (Horst and Gigi) of the resort for supplying the turkeys. You are the "Best".
On the weekend, CSN (Canyon State Naturist) visited the resort in force. On Saturday, they hosted another turkey Pot Luck supper and again "Roundman" got Rounder! Thanks CSN for all the new friendships.
We will visit again whenever is possible.
June of 2000: NORTH TEXAS' BEST: We visited Wild Wood Naturist Resort in North Texas. These folks are friends of ours from another Resort who began building this resort in 1997. It is a beautiful place with lots of trails to hike, great pool and deck etc. But the best part is the "Texas Hospiality" you'll find there. If in the neighborhood of North Texas, Go and stay with Rick and Connie your host---YOU WON'T REGRET IT! Tell them Roundman sent you! Go to: WildWood Naturist Resort for more information.
July of 2001: Once again we visited Shangrila II Resort in Arizona. We met two dear friends from Hamburg, Germany that we met at our first visit to Shangrila in 1999. We spent a wonderful (and hot!) week there. We hope to see them again next year.
A few Quotes about Nudism/Naturism
"When wearing only a smile, be sure to smile a lot!"
"We nudist have no fear of a pick-pocket."
"He who sleeps in the raw, is in for a nude awakening."
"On the fourth day of telecommuting, I realized that clothes are totally
unnecessary." -Bill Gates?-Naw! He just wishes he said that
"Nudism-Try it on it, it always fits!"
"I'm nude under my clothes."
"If it's so dirty to be a nudist, then why do we get naked to get clean?"
"If it's so dirty to be a nudist, then one day I hope to be a pile of dirt."
"Beware of all enterprises that require new clothes." Henry David Thoreau
"What spirit is so empty and blind, that it cannot grasp the fact that the human foot is more noble than the shoe and the
human skin more beautiful than the garment with which it is clothed?-Michelangelo"
- "Indecency, vulgarity, obscenity - these are strictly confined to man; he invented them. Among the higher animals
there is no trace of them. They hide nothing. They are not ashamed."
Mark Twain, Letters from the Earth
- "Adam and Eve entered the world naked and unashamed - naked and pure-minded. And no descendant of theirs
has ever entered it otherwise. All have entered it naked, unashamed, and clean in mind. They entered it modest.
They had to acquire immodesty in the soiled mind, there was no other way to get it. ... The convention mis-called
"modesty" has no standard, and cannot have one, because it is opposed to nature and reason and is therefore an
artificiality and subject to anyone's whim -anyone's diseased caprice."
