Educational Curriculum
ADVANCE Education and Development Institute offers an extensive list of course offerings in non-profit management, community development, and the practical skills necessary to participate in a civic democracy. The courses may be completed individually, or may be completed as a component of a certificate program in fundraising management, non-profit administration, applied research methods, community and economic development, human services administration, applied public relations, or general management. Additional courses and programs are developed in response to community and student needs. A description of offered courses and certificate programs is provided later in this bulletin.
Courses are offered on-site upon demand by five or more enrolled students, and are offered on demand through correspondence to individual students. Courses are also scheduled through cooperating college and university continuing education offices and other training providers.
ADVANCE Education and Development Institute courses are noted for their high substantive content, their mix of academic theory with practical application, and their unique perspectives on issues facing today's professionals. Most courses also include step-by-step practical exercises intended to demonstrate the practical application of the substantive information presented in the course. ADVANCE courses are clearly a step above the typical training workshops and seminars offered by most professional associations or in-house training departments. Students holding bachelors and masters degrees find these courses challenging and professionally rewarding. Students with little or no college academic background often find it necessary to take advantage of the one-on-one tutorial assistance offered by the Institute.
All courses are offered in the English language, although translations may be available for individual courses. Access to computers and to the internet may facilitate the completion of courses by correspondence.
