The following was written for Alonzo Price's Funeral
By Debbie Jo Handel
We miss you so much already! For the last few days, we have thought about
you telling us heroes never die, but we finally figured out, being the man
you are, you did not realize the name Lonnie Price and hero were synonymous
-- so we are letting you know now -- YOU ARE OUR HERO!
A lot of people here today know you as a co-worker, friend and "Frog." Now
we want them to get to know you as our "Daddy." What you gave of yourself
to them, you gave to your girls two-fold. You instilled in us your
greatest qualities of strength, sense of right, moral values, sensitivity
and work ethics. For that we thank you and promise to uphold these for the
rest of our lives. We could drive you crazy, but you never gave up on us.
You always encouraged us to stretch our boundaries, but never pushed us
beyond our limits. You taught us what was most important in life was
family! Not every dad would get up on Saturday morning, and allow his kids
to use him as a pillow while we ALL watched cartoons. We did not always
have a lot of money for the latest new toys, but you gave us something much
more valuable -- your time.
Well, it is time for us to close this letter to you -- I know you are
probably very busy right now organizing the Heavens and getting all their
paperwork on the computer! We hope this note has given everyone a sense of
what you being our Daddy has meant to us.
We love you very much, and know that when it is our time to join you -- you
will have the TV warmed up and our favorite cartoons ready.
Love you forever,
Debbie and Zoe
