CONSTITUTION

Egyptian Mau Breeders and Fanciers Club

ARTICLE I -- NAME

 

SECTION I -- This club shall be known as the Egyptian Mau Breeders and Fanciers Club (EMBFC).

 

ARTICLE II -- AFFILIATION

 

SECTION I -- This Club shall be affiliated with The Cat Fanciers' Association Inc. (CFA).

 

ARTICLE III -- OBJECTIVES

 

SECTION I -- The objectives of the Club shall be:

 

A.     To create and develop interest and knowledge in the care and breeding of the Egyptian Mau.

 

B.     To encourage breeding to the standard of the Egyptian Mau.

 

C.     To promote exhibitions and educational seminars in order to disseminate knowledge of the breed.

 

D.    To promote and advance in every way possible the interest of owners, breeders and exhibitors of the Egyptian Mau.

 

E.     To cultivate sentiments of friendship and common interest among the members of the Club, prospective members.

 

F.      To maintain, develop and publish information concerning the breed, and individual Egyptian Maus.

 

G.   To give prizes, ribbons and honors in connection with exhibition of the breed and to publish books, pamphlets, periodicals, forms, and other publications, all of which the Board of Directors may deem as assisting in forwarding the above objectives.

 

SECTION II -- The Club was not established and shall not be maintained due to a profit motive, and no officer or member shall be paid for services unless the membership so decides by majority vote of those voting to have paid employees.

 

 

ARTICLE IV -- MEMBERSHIP

 

SECTION I -- Persons of good character interested in the objectives of the Club shall be eligible for membership.

 

 

ARTICLE V -- OFFICERS

 

SECTION I -- The officers of the Club shall be a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The office of Secretary and of Treasurer may be combined at the discretion of the board.

 

 

ARTICLE VI -- BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 

SECTION I -- The officers and three elected members shall constitute the Board of Directors, of which the President shall be chairman. Four members present of the Board of Directors shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.

 

 

ARTICLE VII -- DUES

 

SECTION I -- Membership dues shall be as provided in the By-Laws.

 

SECTION II -- For the purpose of computing dues, membership is based on the current calendar year (January 1 to December 31).

 

SECTION III -- Members joining the Club after September 30 shall pay one years dues for the balance of the current year and the following calendar year.

 

 

ARTICLE VIII -- MEETINGS

 

SECTION I -- Regular meetings shall be held as provided in the By-Laws. The Annual Meeting shall be as provided for in the By-Laws.

 

 

ARTICLE IX -- AMENDMENTS

 

SECTION I -- This Constitution and the By-Laws may be amended in the following manner:

 

Proposed changes shall be published in one issue of the EMBFC newsletter. Balloting deadline shall be 30 days after the mailing date of the second newsletter. Ballots shall be tallied no more than two weeks after the balloting deadline. Any proposed amendment or change must be approved by a 2/3 majority of all member in good standing who return ballots.
