Many primitive cultures used an extremely basic set of tones for religious ceremonies and rituals. These were typically in the background and melodies occured over them. Much the way a tuning pitch is used, they gave the people a reference point, both for starting pitch and modulation. Use these 'scales' as backing or 'bass' tracks. You can also use them to experiment with rhythm or duration in a very limited context and see what you are able to come up with...could be something quite entrancing.
