Storyline Spoilers
Laura marries Ian, but she and Dr. Burnley tell each other they are in love. Ian makes Laura lie... Mrs. Bowles steals diamonds from someone staying at the Treasure House. Ian is blamed and doesn't have an alibi, so his mother says that Ian and Laura eloped and were on their honeymoon. Laura, was going to tell Ian, that she loves, Allan, but felt forced into going along with the story because she was in front of the police, so she said it was true. So, she had to really marry Ian. Allan doesn't know why she married Ian, and feels horrible about it. Emily finds the diamonds. Eventually Laura decides to leave Ian, (while he was supposedly in Paris but we later find out he's striking a business deal with the government aided by his mistress Miss Margaux Lavoie) and Laura was staying at New Moon. Then Laura finds out she is pregnant, so she decides to leave and go work at the woolen mill. Only Emily and Jimmy know where she is. Emily and Ilse break in to the Treasure House and get Laura's boots. While there, Ilse tells Mrs. Bowles and Margaux that Laura is pregnant and working at the mill. They tell Ian. Ilse tries to get her father to go get Laura, but Dr. Burnley feels it isn't his place and he doesn't want to get involved. Ian shows up at the mill and tries to get Laura to go with him because he knows about the baby via Ilse. He almost succeeds. Laura eventually looses that job and starts wandering looking for work. Dr. Burnley goes to Boston and meets Iris, so now he has a new lady in his life. But he still loves Laura, he's just trying to move on more for Ilse's sake.
Laura is trying to get a divorce, but Ian won't give her one, and threatened to take the baby when it's born. Margaux is living at the Treasure House with their son and meddling every way she can to get Ian.
Meanwhile, Jimmy gets struck by lightning and becomes smart. Jimmy marries Eve, but she has to go to jail. She is almost hung, but Jimmy saves her and lets her go free. During this time he also begins to build a great bridge connecting Prince Edward Island to the Mainland. He bumps his head and is then the old Jimmy again! It seems that most of this was just a dream...and Jimmy didn't marry Eve after all, and his being normal was a dream.
Mr. Carpenter gets fired after getting drunk, and Isabel becomes the new teacher. Isabel makes Emily work for her food, so she becomes a hired girl for the Stuarts.
Emily worries that Oliver is being neglected. Maida gets Ollie back, but Ilse doesn't like having to give up Ollie.
Perry kisses Emily...but Emily gets mad at him because he kisses Rhoda because he feels bad for her. Perry and Emily's friendship has been getting closer, and Teddy's very jealous.
Rhoda's mother runs off with another man. Rhoda's somewhat nicer now, and her aunt, is helping out the family. Emily is a little friendlier with Rhoda.
Emily kisses Perry and Teddy both, (on the cheek)...Perry's mother shows up, after having escaped from jail. (She had been sent to jail ten years earlier for killing his stepfather who was going to hurt Perry.) Perry and Aunt Tom help her escape. She tricks Ian, making him think she's a lady, not an escaped convict and she wins a lot of money from him, at poker. At the end of the episode Perry's mother had to leave so she wouldn't get caught, but they (she and Perry) had a nice parting.
Malcolm returns with a boy, that the town doesn't like and they infect all of Blair Water with Pox. New Moon is used as a hospital during the pox epidemic. Uncle Malcolm gets sick, and the little boy Robbie falls off a cliff; Robbie dies. (not sure if he dies from the fall, or later from the pox?) Ilse also gets sick and almost dies. Dr Burnley may begin to believe in God... he prays. (maybe because Ilse was so sick??) Laura seems to care more about Ian; he was surprisingly helpful and compassionate during the epidemic. Ilse kisses Perry on the cheek. Teddy tells Emily he loves her, and proposes, but Emily doesn't say yes, because of course they are too young. But she said she thinks she loves him.
Laura's cousin, Harrington Bowles comes to town and kisses Rhoda. Rhoda falls in loves with him, and is very naive. Although he says he loves her, he dumps her. She tells Ilse that they kissed, and Ilse was like, "Well if it was only a kiss..." but Rhoda runs off before she could finish because she is so distraught. Rhoda goes back to the General store and takes some medicine that claims to cause miscarriages. During this time Laura, Isabel, Emily, and Mrs. Stuart are looking for Rhoda. Rhoda runs into the barn where she and Harrington were together. While in there she gets sick to her stomach. The Murray women finally find her and bring her home. The scene cuts back to the general store and Emily is pacing around waiting to hear about Rhoda's condition. Laura and Isabel come downstairs and Emily asks if Rhoda is ok and if there is a baby. Isabel says if there was a baby they will never know because Rhoda got "her monthly." Plus there is no way she could have gotten pregnant and miscarried in just one day (Ilse even tells this to Rhoda). Sometime during this, Rhoda tries to convince Perry to marry her, but he refuses.
Ilse, Teddy and Perry get the queen to come and help Emily to get to go to Shrewsbury (she sets up a scholarship for the highest marks on the entrance exam).
Emily and Ilse make their own magazine, a romance magazine with romance stories. Isabel seems to have a heart now. She is in love with Mr. Carpenter, but Isabel doesn't want him to get a divorce from his wife, so he returns to his wife.
Malcom gets a letter... Megan Moore is dying. Malcolm goes to her because he is a kelpie? and helps people cross to the other side. He tells Emily about kelpie's? Perry and Ilse dig a grave and find a horse head. Malcolm almost goes to a crazy house but turns into a horse... then changes back again and leaves for Scotland. He also makes a will that Laura, Emily, Jimmy and Isabel will each get 1/4 of New Moon.
Susan Clark (Aunt Elizabeth) returns for an episode as a fortune teller named Aida Pickett. Emily and Ilse are old ladies looking back at the past trying to remember how Laura's story goes. Three different scenarios play out. The last one is the true one. Laura goes to work for a milliner (also played by Susan Clark). While there Jimmy and Perry come looking for her. Jimmy mistakes another woman for Eve, has a fight with the constable, and is arrested. When Laura finds out she goes to Jimmy in jail and tells him she will go back to New Moon and get a lawyer.
This is the end of season three... so it sounds like it's a cliffhanger and we'll have to wait and see what happens with Jimmy, and Laura and Ian.
