|Sensors take the game one step further for the player. They allow the hiden, to be seen. They deny detection. They can enhance any tactic as well be used to counter one. Sensors are alot like the frag, its only limit is the players imagination on how to use them. You have 3 classes of sensors which are the following:
1. Regular- Heartbeat Sensor and Heartbeat Sensor Jammer
2. Stand Alone-Heartbeat Sensor and Heartbeat Sensor Jammer
3. Decoys- False Heartbeat Puck.
All three are usefull, but they are the most effective when used to compliment one another. Or having a team use all three classes at the same time. Example: Gold Team is on Storage Depo with 4 players. One player drops a SA Jammer at the start. Player Two Drops a SA Sensor in the upper corner of the building, closest to blues start. Player 3 runs out to cover with frags and direct fire from blues start, to protect from a rush. Player 4 Heads out and around the back...droppin False HB Pucks. Now, in perspective, if Blue team is rushing or trying to detect Gold, when they use there sensor, they will see Player 4 running around the back torwards the cement pipes and barriers and also 3 other targets [ from the False HB Puck] making it appear for a moment that Gold is flooding the backside. In reality, Gold is in the building or preparing to rush out near side, but are protected from detection due to the Jammer and can pick up Blues rush with the Sensor. This scenario creates a false image for Blue and lets Gold counter a rush. This isnt a ideal tactic for this map, but its just showing you a way that these items can change aspects of a game. The one thing to remember with a sensor is they can be destroyed[ SA varients ] and they show effects for all players on your team, not just the user.
These are convenient, due to they have the biggest detection/jamming range as well as they can be carried with you. The Heart Beat Sensor or HBS is a handheld kit item that is activated when you select it, hold down your fire key and rotate around or turn. You see your opponents in your lower part of your status screen. All detected enemy will show up WHITE. Simple enough, but just because there not showing up on a map, doesnt mean they arent there. The Jammer protect an individual, or even a hole team, if are close enough together. It works the same way, you select it and press and hold the fire key. When activated, it jams and prevents detection within a small radius of the user. Maps with lots of stairs can be a problem or an advantage. If on one level, you wont detect anyone except on your level. But on some starewells, if your halfway between floors, you sometimes can detect both floors. But be warned, the jammer works the same way. The only drawback to regular sensors are that they are hand held. If alone, you can easilly be caught with your HBS in hand while your enemy takes you out. So, dont overuse them.
These are great due to them working once you place them on the ground. They allow you to have your weapon ready, and detect or jam your opponent at the same time. You select them, find your spot to place it, then hold the fire key untill its placed. Once down its working. The drawbacks are they can be destroyed, and they have a smaller "effect" radius. When to use these instead of regular is totally up to you. But most common is if your on one main level, or a map with one battle area, use the SA varients. If on larger maps or multiple levels, use hand helds. Other options are if you have 4 team members, more than one can place a sensor or jammer. One player puts one on one floor and one on the other. SA Sensors should be placed next to objects or behind items in the game to avoid being destroyed, as well as away from your area of operation.
Or the False HB Puck, can through off an opponent due to it emmitting a signal that duplicates your signature that a sensor picks up. In the game, if you are detected by a sensor, it shows you in white, and your first initial of your name. The False HB Puck will duplicate this whenever you place it. Drawbacks are they can be destroyed, and its easy to figure out after awhile that there isnt 4 people on your team with the same first initial or when they dont move. So, spread them out and place them in rooms to mimic a camper. It doesnt make sense to place one in a hallway that is used for movement or not good for staying put.
These are only limited to you or your teams imagination of how to use them. But the biggest thing about any sensor is that are designed to assist you in a game, not win one. Only a weapon and capable player can do that. The sensors help you, but overuse will distract you from whats needed to win............... K.T.E. [KILL THE ENEMY] If you use them alot.......play games without them from time to time. There is no substitute for a player that can win or achieve kills with only his raw basic skills. Those are more important than gadgets and kit items.
