Vice President Brickley arranged for the death of President Gates. Knowing the security procedures, and full schedule of the President, this was a simple matter for him to arrange. Upon taking office, he began to promote the major growth of the nations private industry. Making things easier for corporate growth. This pleased the Technocracy most of all. Technology was on a major upswing, and life seemed to be going fine. Then, Brickley started legislation that would allow the sale of US Property to Corporations, for them to govern as independant states. The stated purpose behind the move, was for reduction of the massive deficit the US had built. By this time, vampire control had extended so far, that the measures actually passed. For the first time in history, privately owned
buisinesses were in charge of sovereign soil. Cover corporations for all the races jumped on this as an opportunity to take control (they thought).

Vampires were among the heaviest buyers, but were by no means alone. The shifters bought vast tracks of land in the wilderness, and started to turn them into preservations. Pentex bought swamplands, and dumping grounds. Other corporations bought cities, and farmlands. The US as a governing body was shrinking rapidly. Some cities were bought by conglomerates. Several corporations banding together to gather the funds neccessary, and then dividing the area up between them, according to original investment. These were the worst areas of corruption, and power struggles. Where the good of the people, was ignored in the pursuit of controling interests. This is where the mortals first struck back. Sparked by those who knew what was going on. Those that knew the vampires started this, and actually controlled many of the corporations in power. They fought back with fire, and lead. Millions of innocents killed while entire cities were destroyed. All too soon the cause was forgotten, and the war continued
just for the sake of war. People fighting against the oppression of the corporations, or just fighting to fight.

The corporation heads called upon the last remnaints of the US Government to quell these uprisings. Pointing to contract clauses that guarenteed possession of the vast tracts of land, and buildings. The military was called in, and civil war ran rampant thru the country. The slaughter was out of control at this point, and only the relatively few number of troops, kept it from being total. All types of people suffered from this war. Supernatural beings had special abilities, yes, but even they need sleep sometime, and the mass of humanity fighting against them was overwhelming at times. Guerilla tactics became the favored method of fighting this war, with the scarcity of people available for open warfare. The present, became but a shadow of the past glory the world had enjoyed.

The preservations became private Enclaves, closed to all but Garou, and those sympathetic to their cause. The preservation of the earth. The swamplands became huge dumping grounds, and pits of foulness no man would enter on fear for his life. And the cities usually divided into two distinct parts. Clean, orderly areas, and "Sin Cities", where anything but respectability could be bought for a price.
