These search engines usually list site names and a broad overview of each site. Use a list-based catalog to find a particular server by its description. If you need to find the contents of the documents on a server, use a spider-based catalog, instead.

Spider-based WWW Catalogs

Spiders spend much of their day gathering documents from other web servers. They usually grab full text documents from each server and index them. Spider-based catalogs are vary good for finding a particular page by searching its contents.
