LEGACY OF RAGE (1986): This film is Brandon's first attempt as an actor. The film made in Hong Kong and the people wanted young Brandon to follow in his father's footsteps as an action/kung-fu star. The film's basic story line is that Brandon works as a waiter in a restaurant, some guys mess with his girl friend, he gets into a fight with them, his friend shoots some guys and Brandon gets the blame for it. So Brandon goes to jail, his best friend steals his girl and his to be son. Brandon gets a hard time in jail from the gaurds, but kicks the crap out of everyone else that looks at him the wrong way. Brandon eventually gets out of jail years later, finds out what happened.. his girlfriend is killed, and he and one of his jail buddies go full front after his old pal the drug dealer. He gets his son back in the end and is pretty beat up. The End.
KUNG-FU THE MOVIE (1986): Brandon co-starred in this film based on the old Kung-Fu TV show starring David Carradine. The movie is actually about Caine, and Brandon plays his unbeknownst son. The plot of the film is an old Manchu man who is of some royal affiliation who has come to kill Caine by using his brainwashed son (Brandon) against him. The fight scene at the end is one of the only interesting parts of the film where David Carradine and Brandon Lee go head to head. Of course Caine wins out in the end, not killing his son and the film ends like Caine's teaching began as a young man.. Caine tells his son to listen.."what do you hear?"..."I hear the water..I hear the birds"...."do you hear your own heartbeat?--Can you hear the grasshopper that is at your feet?"..."old man how is it you hear these things?"..."young man how is it you do not?"
LAZER MISSION (1990): Although I love Brandon Lee to death, and I admire him as an actor and a person... this is one of the worst movies I've ever seen.. This film should have never been made. The only people of interest in the film is Brandon and Earnest Borgnine. The story of the film is that Brandon is an agent for hire, and the CIA has hired him to travel to Germany to steal this secret lazer and rescue the scientist who designed it. The plot gets all twisted.. Brandon meets his sexy co-star, and alot of stuff is blown up... if you really want to see this movie you can probably find it for $5.99 at SunCoast in the mall..
SHOWDOWN IN LITTLE TOKYO (1991): In this film Brandon Co-Stars with Dolph Lungdren. Dolph plays the lead character who is on the LAPD and cannot keep a partner. Brandon's character plays the same, however Dolph is the tough-guy and Brandon is the smart-ass-- I can kick your ass--valley boy attitude. The film's plot is Dolph and Brandon trying to bust the Red Claw Yakuza who is dealing and smuggling drugs through the Red Dragon beer company. They also have to rescue the girl who is played by Tia Carrere. Brandon gets to show off a little Jeet Kune Do and some Kali with a steel pipe, while Dolph does the samuri sword thing.
RAPID FIRE (1992): RAPID FIRE is Brandon Lee's big 'ol Kung-Fu film. The film in itself is reasonably good, personally I enjoy it. I did notice that some of the scenes were taken from Jackie Chan's Police Story, including driving a bad guy through a glass case on the front of a motorcycle and tripping a foe with a department store style coat rack. The plot of the film is that Brandon is a college art major whose father was in the Military and taught extensive martial arts. The two were also at the Tienamen Square massacre and Brandon's character (Jake Lo) witnesses his father being crushed by a tank. He's then lured by a college group supporting Chinese democracy to a party hosted by a drug lord. An Italian gangstar is moving in on the territory and Brandon's character witnesses the murder. He's later captured by the police, taken into FBI custody, tried to be killed by the FBI, and then used as bait by an investigator in order to get the druglord. Brandon later helps out the cop by going undercover in a Chinese laundry to get the big bust... this is a great movie for action. I even have a copy of a rare interview between a Memphis Entertainment reporter and Brandon about the film Rapid Fire months before he began filming for the Crow.
THE CROW (1994): What is not to say about the Crow.... this film is by far Brandon's greatest achievement. It is a shame that such a great actor died in the making of the film. With this film Brandon really reached me through the character. Eric Draven's undying love for his fiancee' brought him back from the dead to put the wrong things right. I love the theme of vengeance and love conquers all. The tearing between his pain, his anger, and what he was brought back to do sent shivers up my spine. I became obsessed with the film's character. Due to my physical similarities with Brandon, and those who just wanted to tease me, I became known as the Crow, Brandon Lee, or Crow-Boy at school. Every Halloween since the movie was released, as an homage to Brandon I become the Crow for 2 nights (Halloween and Devil's night). The movie's summary goes as such: The film begins with a crime scene.. the place where Eric Draven and his fiancee' Shelly were killed. It then goes to one year later where people have gone on with their lives and the crimes during Devil's night continue. Brandon is brought back from the grave by the powers of the Crow, and finds himself back to his old apartment. In the apartment, everything he touches gives him a surge of memory, and Brandon realizes that he is invincible and what he has to do. The rest of the film goes through him killing the killers and saving their old friend Sarah.
