The Goddesses can travel between Heaven and Earth, and their jobs are to help Kami-sama (God-sama) runs and maintains the Yggdrasil System, which is vital to the running of the Real World on Earth. Each goddess has extraordinary powers for her own use, for example : teleportation and being able to fly. In manga series, each goddess is able to summon her angel to do her bidding, for example : when they need help in casting spells.

Belldandy is the first goddess who appears to Keiichi in the story. Her forehead has the distinctive marking that all goddesses have, her's like an elongated diamond and on her cheeks there are small triangle markings as well. She uses mirror as a teleportation medium to move between Heaven and Earth or from place to place. She's very kind and gentle, albeit a little naive. Belldandy is totally devoted herself to Keiichi, and is willing to risk anything (even at the danger of losing her own powers) for him to protect him from harm.

Urd is the 2nd goddess. She's Belldandy's elder half-sister because she is half demon & half goddess as her father was a demon. Her teleportation medium is TV sets, that's why she first appears to Keiichi from his television set. The distinctive markings on her forehead resembles an upside down triangle. Urd is Yggradasil's system maintaner, and has a love of brewing magical potions, and poor Keiichi is always the target for her potent love potions ! She acts as Cupid who always trying to get Belldandy and Keiichi closer together but her ideas backfire most of the time.

Skuld is the 3rd goddess who arrives from Heaven, and she's the youngest of the three sisters. In the manga, she materializes out of the bath with Urd in it, whereas in the OAV she encounters Keiichi in the bath instead. (Keiichi gets hammered by her as the result.) She has a circular marking on her forehead. Skuld is the Yggradasil's system debugger ... the bugs are real living things which similar as rabbits with eight legs, and she uses her long extendable hammer to squash them. She likes building all sorts of machines, her best inventions to date is Banpei - kun RX, and also very fond of eating 131 Ice Cream brand.

Peorth is the 4th and last goddess who appears only in the manga series. She appeared to the surprised Keiichi through his camera lens ... her teleportation medium is camera lens. She's a bit miffed at first because Keiichi didn't want her to grant him any wishes, but later she started liking him a lot. Of course, she starts treating Belldandy as a rival in love, because she's from a rival Goddess Office (which explains her dislike of the other goddesses). She enjoys reading romance comics, even resorting to steal Skuld's entire collection with her when it was her time to return to Heaven.
