Mission Statement

The Sound Symphony is a unique and exciting orchestra that presents a series of concerts of great music, performed by members of the community, for the community. The Sound Symphony presents a series of outstanding programs, both of classical and contemporary composers. The orchestra seeks to encourage talented young musicians with its annual Solo Competition and provides three in-school programs -- The Toy Symphony, The Incredible String Machine, and Jazz It Up! -- to school districts throughout Suffolk County.


You can earn 2, 4, or 6 SUNY Potsdam Graduate Extension Course credits from the Crane School of Music for performing with the Sound Symphony!

Available through SCOPE: 1 course credit for fall 2008. "Orchestra Rehearsal and Performance Practice" focuses on the music of Mahler.
This course is intended for instrumental music teachers in elementary and secondary schools who wish to enrich their knowledge of the orchestral repertoire.
Course starts 9/11/08 and ends 11/22/08. Registration is subject to the approval of the conductor.
