O.K. The heel has been rough cut. Now I clamp it to the workbench and get out the chisel and rasp/file.
|The shoulders of the heel are subtley extended.|
|After a bit of chiseling, rasping and filing the heel takes shape. The pink stuff is paper that has the pattern for the shape of the end of the heel.|
|Now the heel is pretty much in its final shape, I sand it to make sure that all the lines flow smoothly.|
|The heel after the neck is attached to the body of the guitar. Notice how the shadows on the contours of the heel are smooth.|
|The heel cap can be fit many ways. Here is one. It uses the same piece of wood as the back of the guitar, extending the grain pattern.|
